Southwest Airlines has updated benefits for the Rapid Rewards program. As well as some credit card benefits. TPG summarized them below:

Additionally, all Southwest cardholders will get a free checked bag. Along with up to 8 companions on the same reservation. Effective 5/28/25.

Thoughts
Wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a credit card overhaul in the future. As the program is now setup like the other airlines, get at least the base card to save on check bag fees.
