As first reported by Ben Hedges a month or so ago, TD Bank has released a two new credit card products. As well as refreshing the existing lineup.
New cards
This gives customers two options:
- $1k credit limit and a $10 monthly fee
- $45/month minimum payment that includes the monthly fee
- $2k credit limit and a $20 monthly fee
- $70/month minimum payment that includes the monthly fee
Updated cards
- Still earns 2x on all purchases. Previously, to get the full 2x you had to redeem to a TD Bank account. This requirement has been removed.
- Users now get to choose their 3x and 2x category each quarter from a set list.
- Dining, entertainment, gas, groceries, travel
- Allows users to schedule one payment per year to skip
- The money will still be owed but the missed payment won’t count against you
Thoughts
Minor updates that bring these cards more in line with the competition.
The clear can work if you have religion against interest. Though if you carry 75% utilization that is north of 15% interest and higher the lower your balance is due to the flat fee; 12% if maxed out in month one (only that month due to minimum payments).
On the TD cash credit card that is good there is no longer have to have the checking account to get the two percent seeing how many 2% cards are now out there.
