A source reached out with changes coming to US Bank cards. Letters have started to go out to cardholders starting this month. The changes would be effective 9/9/24.
- 2x categories are getting nerfed. Will no longer include wholesale clubs, super centers, or grocery store gas stations
- Annual of $95 is being removed
- $30 streaming credit will be removed
- 4x gas category will be capped at $1k/quarter. No longer works at super centers, grocery gas stations, or wholesale club gas stations
- TSA Pre/Global Entry will remain
- Points are still worth 1 cent per point for travel. Reduced to 0.8 cents for cash back

I can’t personally confirm these details. However, we should know in a few days if it’s true. Altitude Go hurts but is still fine for us. As most here would only be using it for the 4x category. The Connect gets it worse. The gas category is now super limited as to what works. Don’t love the cash out at 0.8 cents per point either.
Do you think they’re nerfing them to make it more palatable to allow points pooling with the Reserve?
I think US Bank has been scared to compete and this nerfing is a way for them to protect themselves. As well as maybe move more cards to the masses by removing the annual fee
